Acromioclavicular Joint

This is a supplement to page 13-14 of The Resident’s Manual of Ultrasound-Guided Procedures.

Just like any joint injection, you must see the joint capsule expand, or the waterfall effect. Otherwise the medicine likely didn’t go into the joint.

The supraspinatus is visible through the acromioclavicular joint.

This is a video of my shoulder as I partially abduct repetitively. You can distinguish the supraspinatus muscle easily, as well as the hyperechoic bony floor of the superior scapula—the supraspinatus fossa.
